Remedial massage is the technique of using soft tissue manipulation, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques to relieve tension from the muscles and return ligaments to a balanced state. This can relieve headaches, body pain and general discomfort.
Massage compliments physiotherapy and other forms of treatment by relaxing the muscles and nervous system, improving circulation to the areas of concern before and after your other required treatments. This will help to achieve optimum results from your treatment and is often requested by other therapists as part of your ongoing treatment or as a preventative to many musculoskeletal conditions.

Pregnancy Massage
Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, and improve circulation and mobility. Pregnancy massage is tailored specifically to the needs of your pregnant body. All MPFP massage therapists are highly trained in prenatal massage. Being pregnant changes your centre of gravity and puts a lot of stress on your back, neck, abdominal muscles and shoulders.
Pregnancy also relaxes your ligaments, so that your pelvic joints are less stable and changes your posture, pulling your pelvis forward – add to that the extra weight of your baby that you are carrying and you will find you have extras aches and pains. Our massage therapists know where your sore spots are likely to be and will be able to provide some relief; our therapists will also know which areas and techniques to avoid.
Most women find it uncomfortable to lay face down right from the start of pregnancy, so MPFP massage therapists use to hollowed – out pregnancy pillow to accommodate your belly and often your breasts, so you can lie facedown. If this is uncomfortable, we also offer you to lie on your side with pillow wedges for support.
Pregnancy massage can help by;

Also tension from bad posture while breastfeeding, lifting your baby or holding / rocking them for long periods of time cause aches and pains all through the body. Massage is a great way to get your body back in to shape.
Having a regular massage also gives you some much deserved time to yourself.
