Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the persistent inability to attain and maintain an erection sufficient to permit satisfactory sexual performance.

Men of all ages can experience erectile dysfunction. The overall prevalence of ED in Australia is estimated to be 40%.

There are many factors, including your pelvic floor health, that can impact your erectile function. The pelvic floor muscles play an important role in gaining and maintaining and erection.

How can physiotherapy help?

  • If your erectile dysfunction is related to your pelvic floor muscles – we begin with assessing how your muscles are functioning.
    • Just like any other muscle in the body, your pelvic floor can be weak, tight or both! After a comprehensive examination, we will work with you to prescribe an individualised pelvic floor muscle training program to address this
  • Erectile pump rehab
  • Education about cardiovascular exercise
  • Rule out any other areas that may be impacting your pelvic floor (such as your lower back, hips or pelvis)
